Begin With Breath

We are open!

Hi! I'm Adri 👋

I hold the space in our shala, which is what our yoga room is called. This is where we practice mysore-style ashtanga yoga (see our blog) in the mornings. The classes are led by me, Adri, and workshops, conferences and creative things are supported by lovely wife, Susie. Who is Adri?
Our shala is open to everyone - with or without experience. The list of physical and mental benefits of practicing yoga are long... The way we practice reduces stress & anxiety, improves focus and sleep, helps you reconnect to your breath and feel grounded during your everyday. Whether you've done any yoga before or none at all, if you're 20 or 60, it doesn't matter - there are no prerequisites to join this class. You need one simple thing: Willingness to create a positive change in your life.

What is Mysore-Style?
Traditional Ashtanga yoga, as is taught in India, follows the Mysore-style method. If you’ve ever been to a yoga class where the teacher stands at the front and calls out poses, this will feel very different.
In Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga, instead of following a teacher's verbal cues throughout the class, you learn a set of carefully sequenced poses. Everyone starts at the same place and the teacher adds one pose at a time, until each pose is integrated - thus creating our own personal practice. So during mysore mornings, you arrive at the shala, roll out your mat, and begin your own sequence. We don’t all start at the same time, and our practices are different lengths (at the beginning, it might be 30 minutes, and as your practice develops, it will become longer). So although you practice in a group setting, the sequence is fully tailored and personalised to your body, your abilities, your style - even to your wellbeing on the day.
This also means that you are empowered to practice anytime anywhere, whether you're on holiday or on a business trip, you still can roll out your mat in the morning and do the sequence as was taught to you.
